How To Write Cause And Effect Essay Like Nobody Else Does

By Carlos Diaz

‘As this was the cause, the effect is obvious’ This term is used in almost all types, whether its science, arts, humanities, literature, statistics etc. Thus type of college essay defines the effects of the causes that are happening, like how inflation would affect the common man. As compared to other college essays it is comparatively easy, as it only requires an analysis of the cause and its effect.

The first step is to determine what the cause is and what the effect in actuality is. Some students get confused with the cause and effect phenomena. Sometimes a single can cause can lead to many effects for example, a distorted family will bring a poor upbringing of the child, that child can become a delinquent and so on; and many causes can lead to a single effect like terrorism, financial pressure, taxes etc can lead to the low flow of money in the market. It’s up to you to determine, that what has to be discussed here (Usually your teacher will guide you in this matter).

There are two question that you have to ask yourself, the ‘Why’ for the cause and the ‘What’ for the effects.

When beginning the first paragraph, always mention that what exactly you are discussing in your college essay. You should mention the background of the entire phenomena, but no need to go in detail, it will only waste your time, just mention the pointers and that will be enough for the readers.

The second paragraph will then start the real purpose of your college essay, and you can write it in three formats:

1) Chain Reaction

2) From lowest to highest point or the other way around

3) Formation of detailed pointer

When writing a cause and effect college essay, you need to use the following words:

1) Because

2) due to

3) since

4) therefore

5) as a result

6) consequently etc.

As you are writing a college essay it cannot be termed with a proper grade unless you back it up with proper citations, excerpts of other researchers, scholars, journals, academic papers etc because you are trying to prove your point and it cannot be done without proper evidence.

Don’t forget to properly create a chain of your essay, because without proper organization of thoughts, the reader will get confused, keep backing up your points with the above mentioned materials and keep connecting the cause and effect. If you are mentioning a singular cause and it effects then there is no need to go in to details, keep it direct and formal.

The conclusion has to be a recap of the points and then give a concluding question that will make the reader think, and if you like you can even give the answer of the question yourself. You can use these queries:

1) What is needed to be done?

2) Should we do something else?

Following are the topics that are the most common and yet impactful:

1) Terrorism and Economy

2) Pollution and Purification

3) Industrialization and Global Warming

4) Internet and today’s generation

5) Fast food and health problems

6) Video Games and its effect on children.
